connectEDspace - support for young people

Young people can face all sorts of pressures – including problems at school, with friends or at home.
connectEDspace is a website by Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV), dedicated to young people to help provide all the information they need to deal with the stuff they go through each day.

Aboriginal Family and Relationship Support

RAV provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and individuals to help strengthen family relationships.

Counselling provides an opportunity to talk with a professionally trained person to discuss couple issues, conflicts with friends, relationship breakdown, parenting, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, grief, sexual problems, childhood sexual abuse, stress and work related tensions and disputes.

Counselling Support for Communities as Bushfire Season Approaches

Relationships Australia Victoria
3:46pm Tuesday, 8 December 2020

Free and confidential bushfire counselling support is available in East Gippsland for individuals, families and emergency service workers affected by last year’s devastating fires, and anyone who is struggling to cope as the upcoming bushfire season approaches.

The frontline service is provided by RAV and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Victoria, and has assisted more than 400 people with 2000 appointments since it was established in early 2020.

It is delivered with funding from Gippsland Primary Health Network (GPHN), which is leading the mental health response to bushfire affected areas of Gippsland.

“One year on from the bushfires and the people of East Gippsland are still working through the trauma, grief and loss they experienced – and now with summer upon us again there is added anxiety of what lies ahead,” RFDS Health Service Manager, Lauren Zappa said. “Thankfully, people are reaching out to our mental health clinicians who are supporting them through this difficult period.”

For more information, read the GPHN media release, or contact our service for support.

headspace Bairnsdale, which is operated by RAV, is also available to support local young people aged 12-25. To contact the centre, call (03) 5141 6200, send them an email, or visit their website.
