Accreditation Workshops for Registered FDR Practitioners

Relationships Australia (Victoria) has a strong record of training, research and service delivery. It has been providing sector-leading training in family dispute resolution for over 20 years.

National FDR accreditation

The Australian Government has introduced a new accreditation system to ensure that those providing FDR meet a set of nationally consistent standards. These include three specific units of competency for all FDRPs:

  • CHCDFV811A – Respond to family and domestic violence in family work
  • CHCDISP804A – Create an environment that supports the safety of vulnerable parties in dispute resolution
  • CHCFAM505A – Operate in a family law environment.

These units are drawn from the nationally recognised qualification CHC80207.

In order to continue their registration, all FDR practitioners need to meet new accreditation standards by 30 June 2009.

The Australian Attorney General's Department has awarded the Australian FDR Training Group the National FDRP Accreditation and Training contract.

The Australian FDR Training Group comprises the Australian Institute of Social Relations, a division of Relationships Australia (SA); the Training Ground, a division of RAV; the Institute of Family Practice, a division of Unifam; and the Australian Institute for Relationship Studies, a division of Relationships Australia (NSW).

As part of the Training Group, RAV will deliver training and assessment in FDR and other family services.

The training program is subsidised and provided to all eligible FDRP at low cost. Students completing this process may wish to undertake further training and assessment to attain the full qualification at their own cost.
