These information sessions are designed to assist separating parents navigate the challenges of separation while prioritising the needs of their children. We also offer specifically tailored sessions for members of the CALD community.

Journey of Separation
In partnership with the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, we conduct information sessions specifically for women about to be released from prison, who are beginning the reunification process with their children.

Multicultural programs

Sunshine FRC regularly conducts information sessions about our services with multicultural community groups. We have worked to develop strong ties within the African community, regularly attending African community events. We support other agencies, being guest speakers at their events, attending camps working on joint projects. We also work with the Vietnamese community and have re-established the Vietnamese Reference Group.

Latino American Women's Association of Victoria
In partnership with the association, we run a seminar on money management to enable participants to take control of their finances by giving them the basic tools to become debt-free, financially independent and secure. We also run a series of seminars on positive relationships with families, whether they are separated or not. The sessions include communication, changes living in another country can bring, and rights under the Family Law Act.

Managing intergenerational conflict
The centre delivers a variety of programs to different groups primarily from the Horn of Africa and Burma on this topic. There are separate sessions for teenagers and their parents, as well as combined ones.

Parenting
The centre provides sessions on alternative ways of disciplining children for the Chin community, and parenting in Australia for the Karen community, based on their respective needs.
