Hello Helena,
I am a Relationships Educator with Centacare. One of the sessions we conduct on a training program is called "Becoming Parents" and I have been trying to track down a questionnaire called "Expect the Unexpected". Perhaps you might be able to help me?

For those interested to explore further, "The Role of the Father in Child Development", edited by Michael Lamb, now in its Fifth Edition, is the reference 'par excellance' on research in this field, and my primary source. The key roles fathers play are discussed in "Fathering and Child Outcomes" by Eirini Flouri, and many books on parenting cover the important contributions of fathers and mothers.

This is an amazing story which resonates strongly with my experiences. Having seen how one person could destroy multiple lives and yet move through life seemingly uneffected by what they have done. It is almost like you are dealing with two very different people rather than someone who alters their personality depending on their need to gamble or the audience they are relating to. I was amazed that, despite the chaos the gambler created, the people most effected would support his need to gamble. Thinking that if they allowed just a little gambling then the gambler would not do the big distructive stuff. How wrong they were.

When you read such personal stories on the way gambling affects peole's lives, it makes it difficult to understand how the gambling industry and its supporters can rail against the proposed pokie reform.

Thank you for sharing such a personal article. Gambling was just one aspect of my ex-boyfriend's problem behaviour, but he too was very charismatic and sensitive. I also ignored the warning signs because of the positive side of his personality and behaviour, but learned a big lesson that you have to listen to your instincts.
