Family Dispute Resolution (FDR)

RAV’s FDR professional training is undertaken by Training Ground – a Registered Training Organisation since 2007.

Training Ground provides accredited training in couple counselling, as well as relationship management and family dispute resolution (FDR) for clinicians and other professionals who work in human services. In addition, it also provides clinical supervision and consultancy services.

Training Ground offers the Vocational Graduate Diploma in Family Dispute Resolution, a step now required for Australia’s FDR workers.

Specialist Course in Couple Therapy

RAV's Specialist Course in Couple Therapy has strong links with Victorian universities, and is an accredited component of the:

  • Masters in Couple & Relationship Counselling (La Trobe University)
  • Masters in Counselling and Human Services (La Trobe University)
  • Master of Social Work Clinical Degree (University of Melbourne).

Short Courses

The Language of Children

RAV and the Law Institute of Victoria are also offering joint training in The Language of Children to professionals who are involved with children as part of their practice.

The training covers the provision of skills in speaking and understanding children, in the context of relevant family law legislation.

Mediation Training - 5 Day Course

RAV and the Law Institute of Victoria are offering a valuable training opportunity. This 5 day workshop is designed to strengthen the skills and understanding of mediation. 

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • discuss the theory and practice of mediation
  • use appropriate methods of dispute resolution and recognise which conflicts are suitable for which method
  • describe the mediation processes, and how they can be applied.

They also will have acquired skills, knowledge and techniques in mediation that will assist in facilitating appropriate options for the resolution of disputes, and be able to use appropriate mediation skills, including analysing power imbalances.

Participants will be eligible for national accreditation after successfully completing the appropriate assessment.
