Multicultural programs
The Traralgon Centre utilises a number of engagement strategies to encourage community members from diverse backgrounds to access our services. The centre works in partnership with other local services and communities to deliver relevant services. Information on counselling services and Family Dispute Resolution is delivered in an informal manner through activity-based programs and community events.
Current programs
Sudanese women’s sewing group
In partnership with Latrobe Community Health Service and Gippsland Multicultural Service, the centre co-facilitates a weekly Sudanese women’s sewing group in Morwell and Moe. For more information please contact the centre directly.
Past programs
Harmony Day 2011 Mosaic Project
On 21 March 2011 more than 40 people came together at the Traralgon Centre to create their own footprint to make their mark in the “Everybody Belongs” mosaic mural. Invitations went out to the many different organisations and services across Gippsland and participants came from far and wide. Students, teachers, people with disabilities, stay at home mums and staff from a number of organisations. About 46 feet were made and each one contained beads, buttons, broken tiles, plates cups and other such brightly coloured objects.
Sudanese Men’s Group
The centre also runs a Sudanese Men’s Group which meets fortnightly to assist with information on how to access employment and other services. This group is run in partnership with Gippsland Multicultural Service.
