Multicultural programs
The Melbourne FRC is an active member of the Yarra Settlement Forum, a network of organisations in the City of Yarra which work with refugees and new arrivals.
The centre works closely with multicultural communities on a range of complex family issues, utilising its partnership with both government and the community sector to deliver culturally appropriate services.
Current programs
White Ribbon Day
RAV is one of the sponsors for the 2011 White Ribbon Day to be held at Federation Square on Friday 25 November. The day will commence with a White Ribbon Lunch, followed by a Walk Against Family Violence. There will be performances from leading Indigenous musicians and other top performers and there will be Bands Rock Against Violence Events. White Ribbon is the only national violence against women prevention campaign. It is unique in that it aims to raise awareness among Australian men and boys about the roles they can play to prevent violence against women.

Past programs
Immigration forum
In partnership with the Yarra Settlement Forum, an immigration forum was held in 2010 to highlight the issues faced by newly-arrived communities.
Refugee Seminar
Melbourne FRC and Foundation House held a seminar on The Refugee Experience: the impact of torture and trauma on individuals, families and communities. The seminar was held on Tuesday 7 December at Melbourne FRC.
Facilitator, Julia Doherty, vividly captured the harrowing and difficult experiences that refugees have encountered but also portrayed a feeling of hope, optimism and the resilience of survivors.
A case study that generated group discussion conveyed the complexities in working with refugee and newly-arrived families and highlighted the importance of developing partnerships with organisations that can provide invaluable support and assistance not only to clients but to service providers.

The Melbourne FRC is managed by a consortium involving Relationships Australia (Victoria) as the lead, and consortium partner Inner South Community Health Service.
